”yes, normally the cable company can replace it. if you call up and do your best to pretend to be {other roommate} then they can connect you to someone half a world away with a funny accent named “john” or “michael” who will perform some diagnostic tests and after 20 minutes of jumping through mindless hoops, issues with the language barrier, and just general frustration, they will blame you for your internet not working and for even having the gumption to try and get them to fix it. just kidding - i love time warner cable and all other government sanctioned monopolies!
